March 30 2013. Jogging at Barkley Bridge again followed by birdwatching at Long
Creek Nature Reserve...Spotted lots of Ringneck ducks hanging out with some Geese.
Watched a duck roll over in the water, never saw a duck do that before!! laughs!!!
Nice to see water again at Long Creek which only recently opened again March 15th.
Naturally I have to explore somewhere before I head home. This time I explored across the road from the ponds . I was hoping to find and old homeplace where i lived as a small child. Bingo!
Its easier to find things without all the vegetation to hide it. Finding Old cement steps/broken bricks/ tin siding made it a successful venture.. Funny Story about this place. My dad was a moonshiner then, (with his family ) THE STILL not far away I think. Heard through the grapevine he was going to be arrested . He packed up his family that night and moved to Florida. There he got a job as a Policeman....HOW IRONIC!!
There we lived just south of Daytona Beach for 10 years...Luv that place still.

January 9th Jog at LBL
Yesterday I jogged at Lake Barkley bridge on the bike/hike path. Pretty busy there with the Bass tournament. I hiked some of the nearby hills after jogging . Nice views from up there.
Neat thing happened to me: the last thing I wanted to do before leaving was hike out on a peninsula that was accessible due to the low water. When I got close enough to cross over a coyote stood up, apparently hiding in the brush . We both got a scare. Needless to say I didn't investigate the peninsula. I wondered how he would get off during the day because of the high traffic coming and going on the bridge. I imagine when traffic slows down tonight he will be able to leave.
